About This Game COMMUNITY-MADE MOD FOR RED ORCHESTRA 2/RISING STORMHeroes of the West is a mod created by the RO2 community which brings the RO2/RS experience to the Western European theater, pitting the US forces against the German Wehrmacht. It also introduces a whole new faction, the British, bringing the 'Tommies' to the RO2 experience. The mod has been developed with support from the developers, Tripwire Interactive. It includes 4 new maps, 5 new character sets and 10 new weapons.The initial release of Heroes of the West on Steam will feature 4 maps:Omaha Beach - The US 29th Infantry Division storm the bloody beaches of Normandy during the 'Longest Day', June 6th 1944, battling against well dug-in Wehrmacht troops of the 352. Infanterie-Division.Carentan - Immediately after the invasion of mainland Europe on D-Day, units of the US 101st Airborne division fought to capture the key town of Carentan from the Fallschirmjäger-Regiment 6. This was the first encounter between US airborne troops and their German counterparts in the Western Front theater.Port Brest - During the brutal fighting for the key port of Brest from 7 Aug to 19 Sept 1944, the 2 Fallschirmjäger-Division defend against the US 2d Ranger Battalion. This was an encounter between the best troops of both sides and involved bitter street to street battles.Oosterbeek - Operation Market Garden was a bold attempt to get allied troops across the Rhine and into Germany before the end of 1944. I installed it and I start up the HOTW launcher and it doesnt have any heroes of the west content???. This game proves their is a god and he loves us. This is so freaking fun!!!! Saddly not many people...so get it so we can have more!. It's a great DLC for a great game.. This mod is fantastic, what's great about is the fact that it's free! And set in the Western Front.There are only four maps at the moment, but that doesn't stop us from having fun and intense moments in games or mods like this. The maps look good. My favourite is Oosterbeek, cause the British ^^.Custom uniforms aren't to bad, but they look good for a mod.The British models and sleeves look great and so does their weapons! ^^. (The German G43 looks weird though)There will be lots of fighting and explosions all around youCombat feels like its more deadlier in this mod and more intense. Probably because three maps in this game are kinda small, so don't be suprised to experience a lot of dying in the game or maybe it's just me thinking that the maps are small idk.The big downside is that it uses "Rising Storm" format or whatever, so if you don't have Rising Storm. You won't be able to use other classes in either side and you'll only be able to use the Rifleman class.But if that doesn't bother you or if you already have RS, go ahead and give this mod a try!. One of the best mods out there. If you love RO2 and/or RS1, you'll love this.. Still cannot figure how to launch it10/10
